What are discrete graphics in a laptop?
In a laptop, discrete graphics currently refers to dedicated video.
For example, some laptops have dedicated Nvidia or ATI graphics. Some do not, and may have something like shared Intel graphics.
For the most part, discrete graphics are only needed by people playing games, editing graphics, rendering, etc. If you are just surfing Facebook any old integrated graphics will be fine.
What is Sandy Bridge?
Sandy Bridge is the codename for a processor microarchitecture developed by Intel as the successor to Nehalem based on the 32nm process.
Processors based on this architecture are marketed as the second generation of the Core i series and were announced on January 3, 2011.

Nvidia defines the 3D Vision Kit as:

Right now, different laptops use different 3D technologies.
Some are using TriDef’s 3D technology, which uses a polarizing filter on a standard 60Hz display and software that converts 2D content to 3D for viewing with polarized glasses. Read more about TriDef’s 3D technology.

More 3D laptops will be released in 2011 and this technology will improve. Right now it is mostly used for gaming. Lots of games are easy to convert to stereoscopic 3D, and there are already hundreds of popular games that work with 3D display technology.
What is TriDef?
TriDef 3D software enables the viewing of movies, photos and games in 3D on many stereoscopic 3D displays. TriDef 3D includes Dynamic Digital Depth’s unique 2D to 3D conversion software enabling existing 2D photos, movies and DVDs to be enjoyed in dynamic 3D. Blu-ray and HD DVDs are not supported.
